Seiun bridge opened in 1984, the same year as the nearby Aya Teruha footbridge. At the time they were Japan’s two highest bridges. Seiun is now one of 8 bridges in the Takachiho gorge region that exceed 328 feet (100 mtrs) in height. The bridge was a favorite of at least one of Japan’s earliest BASE jumpers.
