Quite possibly the most unusual of China's many glass footbridges, the Zibo Tanxi Mountain arcs high above the edge of a cliff within the Ezhuang National Forest Park. The unique counterbalancing cable stayed arch span design was borrowed from the famous Gateshead Millennium moveable tilt bridge in Newcastle upon Tyne, North East England. Completed in 2001, the Gateshead Millennium Footbridge was designed by WilkinsonEyre.

In addition to the curving glass bridge, the tourist site also includes a cliff elevator that descends to a lake approximately 110 meters below the bridge deck.
