At the time the footbridge was also one of the highest in Japan at 54 meters. Sometimes referred to as the Tanize Bridge, the span has a second set of cables midway between the top cables and the deck. It is unclear why the engineers used this double arrangement or if was part of a modification made at a later date.
The entire area has become a popular tourist attraction with camping available along the river below the north side of the bridge.
