Songkan Bridge is one of at least a dozen high beam bridges on the 6-lane Chongqing to Guiyang 2nd expressway. Songkan Bridge is located within a unique and crowded river valley where 3 major Guizhou north-south expressways criss-cross over each other. As a result, each expressway route has at least 2 high beam bridges.

The G75 Lanhai Expressway came first in 2006 followed by the Zheng'an to Xishui Expressway in 2020 and the Chongqing to Guiyang 2nd Expressway in 2021.

Songkan Bridge is nearly 1.5 kilometers long with many 40 meter approach spans on the south end.
