Roana 1924 Bridge
Ponte di Roana 1924
Roana, Veneto, Italy
262 feet high / 80 meters high
190 foot span / 58 meter span
1924

The first Roana Bridge was completed in 1906 as a combination stone arch and steel truss structure with a main span of 63 meters. History changed the future of this crossing permanently during World War I when Italian troops retreated back on the left side of the valley of d'Assa and decided to destroy the bridge as a strategic move on May 23, 1916. This made the valley the dividing line between the Italian and Austrian sides.

Several years later construction finally began on a new bridge with a three span concrete arch configuration consisting of a center arch with a clear main span of 58 meters. Some restoration work was done in 1994 with plans for further upgrades soon.

Just below the bridge is the Tanzer Park zipline and hiking park.
