Qingping Bridge
Qingping Bridge
青坪大桥

495 feet high / 151 meters high
394 foot span / 120 meter span
2013
Qingping Bridge is one of 4 high bridges on the new S10 Zhangjiajie to Huayuan Expressway. Upon first glance it may look like just another gargantuan Chinese beam viaduct but look a little closer and you will notice the piers of the Qingping Bridge get progressively narrower in 3 separate stages. I have not seen this unique design on any other large piers in China except for the Sanjiaoyan Bridge that is also located on the Zhangjiajie to Huayuan Expressway.
I have dubbed them the "rocket" piers and the tallest rises 129.36 meters. The 936 meter long bridge has a span configuration of 6x40 +66 +3 x 120 +66 +5x40 meters. Just several kilometers east of Qingping is the spectacular Lishuihe Bridge - one the 10 highest suspension bridges in the world.
