Luotianle Bridge
罗天乐大桥
Hongshuihezhen, Guizhou, China
(509) feet high / (155) meters high
787 foot span / 240 meter span
2011
With a central span of 240 meters, the Luotianle beam bridge is as big as they come. Located across the deep waters of the Hongshuihe River reservoir, the bridge was constructed with a segmented cofferdam to allow the pier segments to rise in a dry zone. With half the bridge submerged under the large lake created by the 2008-completed Longtan dam, it is difficult to see the true height of the giant piers that are as tall as 132 meters. The total structure is 763 meters long.
