Even though Gansu Province is one of the largest in Western China, for a decade there were only 2 high beam bridges within its borders and both just 90 meters in height. The Lujiagou Bridge crosses between two plateaus on a curving alignment just 13 kilometers south of Lanzhou city.

The 400 meter long structure has a span configuration of 64+115+64 +5x30 meters.

Jinghe Bridge was the only other 90 meter high beam bridge in Gansu Province until much higher viaducts were constructed along the G69 Expressway.
