Houxihe Bridge is one of China's many tall T-beam bridges where two spans share a single pier. Most are in tight canyons where the slopes are too steep or difficult to construct a stable pier foundation.

The crossing of the Houxi River has two main spans of 115 meters supported on a pier 120 meters tall. In addition to the Houxihe Bridge, the Wuzhen Expressway also has one of China's highest interchanges at over 80 meters. The route connects Wuxi and Zhenping.
