Diaolanhe Bijie Airport Expressway Bridge
毕节机场路南河大桥
Bijie, Guizhou, China
450 feet high / 137 meters high
394 foot span / 120 meter span
2012
The highest of many large road crossings in and around the Bijie Airport area, the Diaolanhe Bijie Airport Expressway Bridge makes a short but impressive leap above the Diaolan River rapids.
The Diaolanhe Bijie Airport Bridge is actually one of two nearly identical arches constructed across the Diaolanhe River just a few kilometers apart. Both spans were built in 2012 with a similar system of tightly spaced Bailey-type trusses. The side by side ribs were built separately allowing the same Bailey false-work to be re-used for the parallel rib. The nearby Diaolanhe Bridge has a slightly smaller span of 110 meters.
There are no less then 5 bridges in the Bijie Airport area that exceed 100 meters in height including the Guihua beam, the Diaolanhe Railway, Luojiaohe Railway and Luojiaohe G56 Bridges. The two arch crossings of the Guihua are also high at about 70 meters.
