Wumengshan Bridge
乌蒙山特大桥
Changliuxiang, Guizhou, China
1,001 feet high / 305 meters high
886 foot span / 270 meter span
2024
Wumengshan Bridge is a large set of side by side concrete arch bridges that parallels the older 2-lane Azhihe suspension bridge that was completed in 2003. The Azhi River gorge is composed of nearly vertical cliffs that plunge hundreds of meters to the Guangzhou Dam reservoir surface.
The main span of 270 meters was constructed by a mountain to mountain highline with a span of 742 meters. The asymetrical single arch truss consists of steel members sandwiched between two concrete slabs. The two bridges are 491.5 and 511.5 meters long.
The 6-lane Wumengshan Bridge is the largest and highest arch bridge along the mountainous Naqing Expressway between Nayong and Qinglong in Western Guizhou Province.
Other spectacular high bridges on the route include the gargantuan Liuzhi arch-beam viaduct, the Zangkejiang suspension bridge and the Baishuihe arch bridge.
